A friend from seminary, Eric Hartman, the Pastor of Providence Church in Garland, Texas, has posted these great thoughts about how the family and church are increasingly at war with each other in believers' priorities on His blog SEMPER REFORMANDA (always reforming). I completely share his thoughts. It's a good read that I encourage you to checkout--especially you parents. Click here for the post. (By the way, before you dismiss him because of the picture, I will confess that I too wore bow ties in seminary and may have even led him into such folly).
Yet they say to God, 'Leave us alone! We have no desire to know your ways. Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? What would we gain by praying to him?'
But their prosperity is not in their own hands, so I stand aloof from the counsel of the wicked.
WISDOM FOR THE MOMENT:
Be still and know. Civilization is littered with unsolved problems, baffling impasses. The best minds of the world are at the end of their tether. The most knowledgeable observers of our condition are badly frightened. The most relevant contribution that Christians make at these points is the act of prayer -determined, repeated, leisurely meetings with the personal and living God. New life is conceived in these meetings.

WHY YOU SHOULD"T GET UPSET (a.k.a. "The Disclaimer")
This blog is about what I think and feel. It really doesn't have any bearing on anyone else, so don't blame them! Most of what I write isn't original so I try my best to give the right person credit. And, keep in mind that when I link or refer to another site it does not indicate complete agreement with them. It simply means that I find what they're saying to be worth paying attention to for a minute. If you comment, I encourage you to be gracious to everyone else and assume your kids and your mother will be reading what you wrote! Also, some of the stuff (like the Zodiak Sign) are automatically generated by the blogging service software I'm using. So please give me the benefit of grace in your questions.
